"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun..."

Life Changes

A few months ago I learned that there was a reason I felt like shit. I have Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH).  Sugar and Fatty foods are killing me. The fact that I could feel it, means that it has been going on for too long.  I had been eating better and exercising more before this point, but not enough to keep me from feeling like garbage.  Luckily the liver is amazing and if you are careful it can repair itself over time.  You may not be able to fix all the damage, but you can survive with a only a part of it being healthy.

I've really only just begun changing my behavior and body based on this new information.  Yesterday was day 50 of me tracking everything I eat. I eat low-fat and little to no sugar. I try to have no more than 6 ounces of red meat in a week. I avoid anything with added sugar in it. I avoid all potatoes other than the occasional boiled sweet potatoes.  Mainly whole wheat bread and pasta is allowed.  High-Fructose corn syrup is banned for life. I also try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily.

At first it felt like I was unable to eat anything that I liked. Everything tasted bland. However, I have found that things are tasting better. I'm becoming more comfortable with the changes.

In the last 50 days I have lost 25lbs. I'm down 56lbs from my heaviest.  I still have a very long way to  go, but I feel better than I have in years. It's nice to see progress. Hating the way you look can be a depressing way to live.

My watch just told me that I walked 91 miles in February.  I'm gonna try hard to better that in march.
